Sunday 28 November 2004: On 24.11.2004, Cityline, a division of Stagecoach Wellington, had an official launch of the '900' series Eastbourne Connector buses at the Lower Hutt Town Hall. In attendance was Brian Souter, Chief Executive of the Stagecoach Group UK.

Awaiting the launch outside the Lower Hutt Town Hall is Omnibus Society preserved Bedford NZR Road Services 3583 and in Eastbourne Connector livery 910. Preserved NZR Road Services 3583 was on show as a comparison to the type of buses that were once used on the Eastbourne route. These will primarly be used on the Eastbourne to Wellington route. It is privately owned by Ian Little and contains a number of ex-Wellington City Transport and Dunedin City Transport buses. Ian also has a touch of London amongst his collection and still active is 1955 AEC-built RT4189. The museum is open every day except Mondays and well worth a look if you are visiting Foxton - just aim for the windmill and it's right opposite. Ex-Dunedin Cuty Transport B.U.T. 1965-built trolley is seen inside the museum on 2.10.2004. 101 is an ex-Wellington City Transport 1965-built B.U.T. It is seen parked opposite the museum on 2.10.2004. Former Dunedin City Transport trolleybus No.76, a B.U.T. built in 1964 is seen leaving the Museum on 2.10.2004. 408, a 1977 Leyland Leopard is another former WCT bus. It is seen at Foxton Racecourse on 2.10.2004. The tallest bus in the collection is London Transport RT4189 built in 1955 by AEC. Pictured on 2.10.2004. A good revving of RT4819 produces plenty of diesel fumes. 393 is 1968-built Leyland Leopard and is seen in WCT livery on 2.10.2004. RT4819 heads towards the Foxton town centre. 107, a 1965-built B.U.T. ex-WCT trolleybus but now used as a smokers area for the pub in front of the bus! 1977-built Leyland Leopard No.179 is a former DCT bus. Former WCT trolley 101 is dwarfed by its London neighbour RT4819. RT4819 turns at Foxton Racecourse on 2.10.2004. RT4819 and ex-WCT post together at the Foxton Racecourse.

Sadly none of the original electric trams survive, but the capital still has electrically powered public transport in the form of its iconic trolleybuses. Over the weekend of 12/13 June 2004, a number of historic trolleybuses once again plied the streets of Wellington. The event was organised by the Wellington Tramway Museum and the Omnibus Society. This album features some of the action before and during the weekend. The first selection of photographs were taken on Friday 11th June at the Stagecoach depot at Kilbirnie. Present were English Electric 210, built in 1931 and transported from Ferrymead Museum in Christchurch for the event and also trolleybus 39, a British United Traction (BUT) example built in 1952. Also included are some views of current operational trolleybuses and some other diesel "old timers" found resting in the depot. Sadly, No.39, owned by the Omnibus Society was unable to participate in the weekend's events, catching fire during a final period of testing. The action then moves to Karori were former Wellington City Transport 66, built by BUT in 1958 was visiting from a private collection in Masterton plus former Auckland Regional Authority 85, BUT built in 1955, former Dunedin City Transport 43, a 1953 BUT built in 1953 (both from the Foxton Trolleybus Museum), and ex WCT 119, a 1964 BUT built in 1964 owned by the Omnibus Society. Stagecoach Wellington provided trolleybus 301, the new prototype design for a replacement fleet of the current Volvos. On Saturday 12th June, the participants were captured in Glenmore St, en route to the Interchange. More pictures were taken at the Interchange and the first trips made from there around the network. Unfortunately No.85 "disgraced" itself with a small electric fire during the day which ended its day's work. On Sunday 13th June, Tranz Metro placed electric locomotive Ew1805 in Wellington Station to support the event. The album concludes with the action seen around the city as 301, 210, 119, 66 and 43 provided shuttles between the Interchange and Courtenay Place. Unfortunately when the trolley was moved a small electrical fire broke out under the driver's seat. 39 is seen shortly after the fire was extinguished. With its Ex WCT 66 is seen parked in the yard at Karori depot. Building at the depot are used by the Omnibus Society for their restoration work. Ex Paraparaumu Road Services coach No.9 is seen alongside 462. Both vehicles are owned by the Omnibus Society and provide charter work. Bay Xpress coach No.30 arrives at Porirua en route to Napier on 9.5.2004. Former London Transport Routemaster buses have been exported to many places around the world. RM1670 is currently giving excursions around Wellington on Sundays and is seen waiting to leave Lambton Quay on 17.7.2005.
